The Dizauregi Support Foundation (DSF), through its Yobe State Cluster, successfully conducted its first sensitization and awareness creation program on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention at Mudo Mustapha Sani Ahmed Junior and Senior Secondary School, Daura Housing Estate, Damaturu, Yobe State.
The event marked an important milestone in DSF’s commitment to promoting safety, respect, and equality within schools and communities. The session focused on educating students and staff about the forms, causes, and effects of GBV, as well as practical ways to prevent it and support those affected.
In attendance were three DSF staff members alongside three representatives from the school’s management team, who actively participated in discussions and activities during the program. The participants shared valuable insights on how schools can serve as safe spaces for both boys and girls, ensuring that every child learns in an environment free from fear and discrimination.
The sensitization exercise emphasized the importance of awareness, open dialogue, and community cooperation in preventing GBV. By equipping students and educators with knowledge, DSF continues to take meaningful steps toward building safer communities and empowering young people to become advocates for change.
The Dizauregi Support Foundation remains committed to extending such initiatives across other schools and communities in Yobe State and beyond, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in a protected and supportive environment.
